From the song “The Story” the lyrics go like this:\r\n\r\n” All those lines across my face,\r\n\r\nTell you the story of who I am,\r\n\r\nSo many stories of where I’ve been,\r\n\r\nAnd how I got to where I am,\r\n\r\nBut those stories do not mean anything,\r\n\r\nWhen you’ve got no one to tell them to,\r\n\r\nIt is true I was made for you.”\r\n\r\nI find this myself to be so true, as I sit here writing this week’s blog, I am reminiscing. Maybe it is because of the holiday’s that have just past, or bringing in the New Year. Everyone was so family oriented, or heck maybe it is my own mortality speaking to me, as my sister has just lost her soul mate her best friend, regardless my brain is working overtime. As we get older and age we have a few more lines on our faces, a couple more greys in our hair and I know for me personally a little more around the midsection than I would like lol. And each and every one of those lines, greys and ounces tell a story of its own, of my past, of who I am, and what I represent to myself. It is a story being told of my past, marriage, births, deaths, daily challenges, and laugh lines too. Life is not always easy and sometimes we set high expectations of ourselves, I think it would be nice once and a while to just accept ourselves for who we really are, and to not put so much pressure on ourselves, especially in the New Year….Yep I am talking about New Year Resolutions! We all do it, let’s lose weight, and eat healthier, work out, yada yada, yada. It’s all great no question about it, everyone on social media, news, grocery lines are talking about it, but I personally think if you can just believe in who you are, be happy about yourself and image, knowing that you the best you can be can sometimes be enough also. Please do not get me wrong, I myself make a New Year’s Resolution, I just make sure that my expectations are realistic. We all have a story to tell, each of us out there, every person I have met has a wrinkle or two, or a grey here or there, and for many of us knowing we have someone to share it with helps. So I have decided that I am going to be realistic with this year’s New Year’s Resolution… I am going to gain a few more greys, add a couple of laugh lines, and maybe just maybe my mid-section will shrink, but knowing that there is a story that comes with each and that I am fortunate enough to have someone to complain about them to will make it all a little bit easier to accept. My story is not always going to be about a fairy tale ending, that I can guarantee, and I know that not every story to be told has a Prince Charming in it. But I do know that if you can accept who you are, be happy that you have someone to share it with regardless if it is a spouse, family, friend, pet, or your BFF ! You can have a Happy Ending To…. Happy New Year’s everyone.\r\nMy Story\r\nTill next time…….\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
